What is Remote Sensing? It is a science about observing different objects and processes on the Earth’s surface from space.

From 22 to 26 April 2024, the Junior Academy of Science of Ukraine (a Copernicus Academy member), organises a five-class online course entitled "Basics of Remote Sensing for Educators 2024".

This course, which will be largely based on satellite images, one of main product of Remote Sensing, mainly targets Nature and Earth Sciences teachers. Remote sensing helps children develop critical thinking skills and is a primary source of information about our planet Earth. The course will explain how to incorporate Remote Sensing tools into study programmes and make the learning process more fun and exciting for students.

The course will introduce participants to user-friendly free online services and platforms for processing and analysing satellite images for different purposes. Each day will consist of a lecture and hands-on training on a specific topic, and will require some individual work as well.
