Climate Change and Environment
The temperature – and in general the health – of our planet is the result of a delicate balance of phenomena, such as the movement of ocean currents, the transformation of carbon as it travels between land, sea and air, and the amount of sunlight absorbed or reflected by the Earth’s surface. But the balance can easily be disrupted, as we are realising with increasing concern.
Thanks to the provision of key indicators on climate change drivers (e.g. carbon dioxide) and to the assessment of impacts on the environment (e.g. melting of glaciers and sea ice, sea level rise), Copernicus supports European adaptation and mitigation policies in a number of sectors.
